Major Drilling surface teams in Arizona, USA, received a warm commendation at the end of a successful drilling program from Michael Bierwagen, Drilling Supervisor / Geologist at Resolution Copper. In a social media post, he thanked Major Drilling for a “safe and successful” drilling program and development of the multi-year, nearly hands-free core tube handling system.
The Resolution Copper project is a proposed underground mine 60 miles east of Phoenix, Arizona, near the town of Superior. The project is a joint venture owned by Rio Tinto (55%) and BHP (45%).
For the last 18 years, Major Drilling has worked with Resolution Copper to advance copper production. Underground teams continue to diligently function as part of the family of contractors that dedicate themselves to operations, safety and the community.
To become one of the largest undeveloped copper projects in the world, Resolution undertook exploration drilling and projects like the geotechnical characterization program completed by Major Drilling with prospects to be one of the largest copper producers in North America. Major Drilling received the honor of being named Resolution Copper’s 2020 Supplier of the Year.

Bierwagen appreciates the efforts made by Major Drilling and the family of contractors at the developing copper mine. He wrote, “Together we have helped advance the knowledge necessary to make the development of one of the world’s premiere Tier 1 copper deposits a reality.”
